Hi, I’m Michelle

I’m a Registered Osteopath and founder of GROW Clinic. I work with people throughout life, from newborn babies to older adults, with specialist training in pelvic and women’s health, pregnancy, postnatal care and scar recovery.

But whatever brings you through the door, I start with the same thing: you.

How I work

There isn’t much about the human body that embarrasses me. Patients often share things with me they haven’t felt able to talk about before, or concerns they’ve been worrying about for a long time. My response isn’t judgement. It’s curiosity: what’s happening, why might it be happening, and what can we do about it?

That curiosity is a big part of how I practise, and it’s one of the things I love about osteopathy. We don’t look at the body as a collection of separate parts; we look at the person as a whole. Rather than simply focusing on where something hurts, I want to understand you and what else might be part of the picture. Your health, history, work, movement, pregnancies, surgery, stress, sleep and the things you need your body to do can all be relevant.

Sometimes the goal is getting back to sport. Sometimes it’s picking up your baby, walking the dog, having sex without pain, getting through a working day, or simply understanding why something doesn’t feel right.

How I got here

My fascination with the human body started early. As a teenager, I was already experimenting with aromatherapy and hand reflexology. I roped in willing friends at school, sometimes even during a particularly boring GCSE Geography lesson (onion weathering, anyone?). That interest led me to study Human Biology at university.

I took a fairly substantial detour after that, spending around a decade working in banking and financial services in London. Pregnancy, and commuting into London while pregnant, brought me back to osteopathy as a patient. A couple of years later, I decided it was time for a bold change and retrained as an osteopath. In many ways, it felt like coming full circle.

I studied for my Master’s in Osteopathy while growing my family. I was pregnant during my third year and took a year out when my youngest was born. During that year I trained as an NCT Infant Feeding Peer Supporter, with my baby coming along to every session, before returning to complete my final year and dissertation.

Immediately after graduating, I started two years of postgraduate training in Women’s Health Osteopathy, completing the Diploma in Women’s Health Osteopathy, and I haven’t really stopped learning since.

Still curious

I am, by nature, insatiably curious. Being an Osteopath means I am required to undertake regular Continuing Professional Development (CPD), to keep my knowledge and skills up to date throughout my career. For me, though, learning goes beyond meeting those regulatory requirements and is driven by the people I see in clinic. Most years I undertake around 30–60 hours of additional training and CPD to build my knowledge and improve my patients’ experience.

That curiosity has taken me into pelvic and women’s health, pregnancy and postnatal care, babies and children, visceral osteopathy, scar and surgical recovery, rehabilitation, pain, hypermobility, menopause and healthy ageing. I’ve also undertaken additional training around neurodivergence and trans healthcare, because good healthcare starts with understanding the person in front of you.

I don’t collect courses for the sake of collecting certificates. I learn because I am always asking whether there is something else I could understand, assess or do better for the patient in front of me.

Come as you are

You don’t need to know exactly what’s wrong, have the right words to explain it, or know what kind of help you need before you arrive. That’s my job. Bring me the questions, the worries and the things that don’t quite make sense yet. We’ll work it out together.

I’m looking forward to meeting you.

Why GROW Clinic?

Creating a different kind of osteopathic care

GROW Clinic grew from a desire to create a space where there is time to listen, look at the wider picture and provide care that reflects the individual in front of me.

My work has developed across general osteopathy, pregnancy and postnatal care, pelvic health, babies and children, and scar and surgical recovery. GROW brings those areas together, rather than treating them as completely separate areas of care.

It’s a place for thoughtful, individual osteopathic care at different stages of life, with the time and space to understand what matters to you.

Care that starts with you

Your priorities are part of the picture

There isn’t a standard GROW treatment plan. Your care begins with listening to what’s happening, what matters to you and what you’d like to be able to do.

Your assessment and treatment are shaped around you, with time to ask questions, understand your options and make decisions about your care together.

Where appropriate, this may also mean working alongside other healthcare professionals or recommending further assessment when something needs a different kind of expertise.
