Postnatal care at every stage
Your recovery matters too
Postnatal recovery looks different for everyone. You might have given birth recently, be months into your recovery, be thinking about returning to exercise or sport, or have children who are now much older but still be experiencing symptoms or changes that began during pregnancy, birth or the postnatal period.
Pregnancy and birth ask your body to adapt in significant ways. Your abdominal wall, pelvic floor, breathing, posture and movement all form part of that picture, alongside your individual experience of pregnancy, birth and recovery.
Whatever your experience of pregnancy and birth, your own physical recovery matters. Pregnancy brings physical changes, and your body may need time and support afterwards regardless of what came before or what followed.
If your experience included miscarriage, stillbirth or baby loss, you are just as welcome to access postnatal care. You can share as much or as little of your experience as feels comfortable and relevant to you.
At Grow Clinic, postnatal care starts with understanding your pregnancy and birth history, how your recovery has been so far, what you’re experiencing now and what matters to you.
Whether you gave birth vaginally or by caesarean, recently or many years ago, assessment and care are shaped around you.
And an important point: you don’t need to wait until your six-week check to see an osteopath after giving birth. Where appropriate, osteopathic assessment and treatment can begin earlier and will be adapted to your stage of recovery.
Your Mummy MOT®
A comprehensive postnatal assessment for you
A Mummy MOT® is a specialist postnatal assessment, available from six weeks after a vaginal birth or eight weeks after a caesarean birth. It gives you dedicated time to look at how your body is recovering and to talk about any symptoms, concerns or questions you may have.
Your assessment is individual to you and may include:
- posture and movement
- abdominal wall function, including diastasis recti abdominis (DRA)
- pelvic floor function
- bladder, bowel and sexual symptoms
- breathing and pressure management
- caesarean or perineal scar healing
- movements and activities that are important to you
An internal vaginal pelvic floor assessment may be offered where clinically appropriate. This is always optional, will be discussed with you beforehand and will only take place with your informed consent.
Following your Mummy MOT® assessment, you’ll receive personalised advice and rehabilitation based on your individual findings. Whether your goal is to feel more comfortable in everyday life, return to exercise or sport, build confidence in your body, or simply understand what’s happening and what you can do about it, your care will be shaped around you.
Care shaped around your recovery
Osteopathy, rehabilitation and pelvic health support
Care is individual and guided by your assessment. Depending on your findings and goals, this may include hands-on osteopathic treatment, movement and rehabilitation, pelvic health support, practical advice and scar therapy.
We can work with everyday movement as well as the things you want to return to — whether that’s lifting and carrying comfortably, getting back to exercise or sport, or simply feeling more confident in what your body can do.
Where clinically appropriate, specialist technologies including LymphaTouch®, Therapeutic Ultrasound and LPG Endermologie® may also be used as part of your osteopathic care.

Specialist postnatal care
Experience and training that brings the whole picture together
Michelle has undertaken extensive postgraduate training in women’s and pelvic health, including The Mummy MOT® and a two-year specialist postgraduate Diploma in Women’s Health. She continues to develop her rehabilitation expertise and is currently training as a Pregnancy & Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist.
This additional training sits alongside osteopathic assessment and clinical reasoning, allowing us to consider how your musculoskeletal, abdominal and pelvic health may be connected, rather than looking at each area in isolation.
